Facebook has announced a major update that will put your friends and family posts above pages or celebrities in a user’s news feed.
In a new targeted move to make users spend less time searching the social media site for interacting with friend updates, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced in a lengthy post that the changes were brought about “to help people stay connected and bring us closer together with the people that matter to us. That’s why we’ve always put friends and family at the core of the experience.”
“Based on this, we’re making a major change to how we build Facebook. I’m changing the goal I give our product teams from focusing on helping you find relevant content to helping you have more meaningful social interactions,” he wrote.
So the burning question is with a priority back on user interaction, how will this affect your business page?
With no real explanation to the major affect this change will have on business page posts, we can only speculate that posted content will sit further down the timeline until it garners more likes and comments.
In short it’s best not to panic until these changes are fully rolled out and a better understanding of how page posts are to be displayed is available. Our suggestion is it might be time to rethink how you present your information posted to your page by putting an emphasis on user interaction and engagement.
