At the culmination of each week, you can send a newsletter that will produce an automatic digest of the best links you tweeted or saved to Refind that week and be sent via email to your subscribers.

I can definitely see using Refind as a plus for any SEO campaign, as a way to share your own blog and article posts to a much wider audience whist gaining all important backlinks and site traffic.

Now for the kicker…Refind is giving away 1 billion coins to early users for free and which they will buy back later with our profits. For every friend you invite, you and your friend will get 20 coins.

The plain fact is when it all comes down to it is that a website can look a million bucks with all the bells and whistles and beautiful imagery, but at the end of the day search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing really only care for content and by content I mean text. Sure there are benefits to having great images on your site as you want to make it as pleasing on the eye for your visitors, but in all seriousness it’s the text based content which gets your site ranking in these result pages. One thing we are continually asked when launching new sites is “when will my site be on page one of Google?” well if we had a crystal ball we could probably tell you, but unfortunately we don’t (but secretly wish we did).

Hopefully most of you have heard the term ‘content is king’ when it comes to your website and its ability to be found in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS).

What we do know however is that regular information posting and text additions to your website or blog will almost certainly increase your chances of ranking in these result pages.

So how do we achieve this? I hear you ask, well several years ago when we first started developing our own search engine optimisation campaign, we spend many dollars and hours on purchasing and reading valuable information from SEO Pioneers who had a proven track record in getting websites ranking in Google etc. All concurred that writing interesting and informative articles relating to your business, industry or field of expertise significantly increases your chances of ranking in search engine result pages.

So what is an article and how do I write one?

Well simply put, an article is a piece of well written text, that is informative and engaging to your visitors and generally includes keywords and links to pages within your site relative to the topic you are covering.

The benefits of writing and including articles in your own website or blog are quite simple in that the more content you include in your website with relative keywords, the more chances you have of jumping up the queue and to the all important first page of Google.

What if I’m not a good writer?

Not everyone is blessed with the gift of the pen or keyboard in this case, but don’t despair there are many excellent copywriting services available who work in conjunction with you help get your message across and simplify things by adding this all important content in the form of articles ready for you to post to your website or blog. For example our friends @ Brutal Pixie (brutalpixie.com) content write for many large and small scale organisations and websites and can easily produce quality copy ready for you to use. Tell em Bullie sent you…..

View our website design, search engine optimisation or social networking articles and stay tuned for upcoming posts on ways to increase readership and utilising web services in sharing your articles.

Much like printed books with their index pages, websites too require an searchable index of content pages and there is no better tool than including an XML formatted sitemap on your website.

What is a Sitemap?
Sitemaps are an easy way for viewers of your website to grab a quick snapshot of the pages contained within your site. Think of it as your website Index of pages. It’s also an invaluable way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling.

A time for discovery
Web crawlers commonly known as ‘spiders’ usually discover pages from links within the site and from other sites. Sitemaps supplement this data to allow crawlers that support Sitemaps to pick up all URLs in the Sitemap and learn about those URLs using the associated metadata. Use of Sitemaps does not guarantee that web pages are included in search engines, but provides hints for web crawlers to do a better job of crawling your site.

Where do I start?
The easiest way to create a Sitemap is a simple HTML document thats lists all the pages contained within the site or at least the major category pages if you have large site. Obviously the list of pages are hyperlinked to the relevent page within the site, therefore making it easier for yoru viewers to navigate your site.

Tip: Add a brief description of the page content after the linked text to help your viewers, for example rather than listing your About Us page as;

About Us

try this…

Company Profile Information – A complete introduction to our company and it’s employees

OK, where to now…
Ok so you have created your HTML Sitemap with links to all pages within your site…that’s great, your viewers will appreciate all the assistance they can get, but what about the search engines? Well fear not there is also a facility to upload your Sitemap information to Google, Yahoo etc for them to crawl your site and it’s by creating an XML Sitemap.

The easiest form of XML Sitemap creator tools around has to be XML-Sitemaps.com they offer a free XML and HTML creator tool that crawls your site and outputs a XML file ready for inclusion to Google etc. To access simply click here.
